In the last week, I’ve seen dozens of tweets, posts and emails about upcoming dinner events at area restaurants – there are loads of choices with something for every taste and budget. Instead of tweeting or posting them individually, I’ve compiled a list to share here on the blog (saving your feeds from being inundated) with links to further details (like menus and pricing).
As of the posting date, reservations are still open for each event, but that could change by the time you read this, just so you know. And here we go, in no particular order…
Triangle Food Tour presents a “Dine with Chef” event on July 10th, featuring dinner at Sitti in downtown Raleigh and tickets to a Hot Summer Nights show. In this case the show is “The Fox on the Fairway” at the Kennedy Theater. The all-inclusive package includes a 3-course prix fixe dinner as well as the show tickets (tax and gratuity are included in the package pricing) and promises to be a fun evening. Tickets must be purchased by July 1st.
Mystery Brewing and Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club collaborate for a special beer dinner on June 26th. The four-course beer-inspired menu will be served at the Terrace on the Green with lovely golf course views to complement the meal. For additional information and to make reservations, call 919.493.6699.
Kimbap Cafe in downtown Raleigh’s Seaboard Station is celebrating their three-month anniversary with a special Korean BBQ Party scheduled for Saturday, June 22nd (11am to 3pm). Grills will be set up outdoors, as will tents and seating (as appropriate for a summertime BBQ). Check the Facebook event page for details and updates as they become available.
Cary’s An visits Durham’s King’s Daughters Inn for a one-night Pop-up Dinner on Thursday, June 20th. The five-course menu features unique takes on Asian cuisine utilizing local vegetables and fresh seafood and meats prepared by Chef Steven Greene. Find the full menu and link to purchase tickets here.
Also on June 20th, Piedmont in Durham hosts a special cocktail dinner featuring the spirits of Chapel Hill’s TOPO Distillery. Each of the four courses planned includes a cocktail prepared with either TOPO Gin, Vodka or Whiskey as well as local products from Coon Rock Farm.
Beginning in July, the Competition Dining series Fire in the Triangle returns to 1705 Prime in North Raleigh and ticket sales are open now, though the final event has already sold out. Keep an eye on social media Monday, June 24th for announcements regarding this year’s 16 participating chefs/restaurants.
If you’re up for a trip just beyond the Triangle to the middle of Johnston County for what looks to be a spectacular event (featuring some popular Triangle area food truck chefs and restaurants), you’ll enjoy the annual Epicurious Vino Challenge scheduled for Saturday, June 29th. Held at Hinnant Family Vineyards in Pine Level (just 5 minutes from Smithfield), chefs will utilize one of the vineyards wines in each dish, competing to be selected as the “People’s Choice” award winner. Proceeds from the event benefit RHA Howell, a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization dedicated to serving children and adults with disabilities across North Carolina.
Not really a “dinner” but certainly worth adding to your calendar is this fall’s TerraVITA Event in Chapel Hill. The dates for this year’s event will be October 10th – 12th and tickets will go on sale July 12th. Watch the TerraVITA event website for more information and schedule announcements.
