The Triangle has been experiencing a bit of a craft beer boom over the last few years. The increase in micro breweries has even sparked a documentary film project on the economic impact for the state. While there are many opportunities during the year to attend beer fests, downtown Raleigh’s Brewgaloo features only NC craft breweries, making it a stand out among local beer festivals.
Organized by Shop Local Raleigh, craft beer fans attending this year’s fest on April 25 (2 – 10 pm) will be able to partake in full pints or tastes from 70+ breweries. Of course the thirsty masses will become hungry at some point and can count on local food trucks serving some of the area’s most popular treats. But it’s not really a “fest” without entertainment now is it. Staying true to the all local focus of Brewgaloo, bands from the area keep the party atmosphere festive.
While general admission to the event on City Plaza is free, your purchase of beer tokens includes a pint glass (special unbreakable acrylic souvenir glasses, available while supplies last). You can purchase $5 drink tokens to redeem for full pints (at 1 token each) or a sampler card (for 1 token) that allows you to taste five 3-oz samples. You can purchase your drink tickets in advance at local stores, Ray Price Harley Davidson and Galatea Boutique, or online. Tokens will be on a special sale of 5 tokens for $20 through April 24th – so better hop on that deal!
